As seen in the Washington Post, the DC premiere of “Bodies in Urban Spaces” turns the streets of the Penn Quarter into a dance floor. Austrian choreographer Willi Dorner and a troupe of DC dancers will be climbing, crawling and suspending themselves over passers-by on a moving “body trail” that will explore the 7th Street Corridor.

It all begins at 5:30pm at the Archives/Navy Memorial Metro Plaza at 7th and Pennsylvania Ave NW, this Friday and Saturday.

So you think you can dance? VelocityDC is seeking local dance and movement artists to be a part of "Bodies in Urban Spaces", an exciting outdoor installation that encourages people to view the urban landscape in entirely new ways ...

“Bodies in Urban Spaces”
by Willi Dorner, choreographer (Austria)
www.ciewdorner.at

Staged in Paris, London, Philadelphia and now Washington, DC, the cityscape becomes a dance floor with Bodies in Urban Spaces, created by Austrian choreographer Willi Dorner.

Bodies in Urban Spaces is a moving trail, choreographed for a group of local dancers. The performers lead the audience through selected parts of public and semi-public space, setting up a chain of physical interventions that appear quickly and only exist temporarily, allowing the viewer to perceive the same space or place in a new and different way – on the run. “Bodies in Urban Spaces” invites residents and audiences to walk and rediscover their own city – thus establishing a stronger relationship to their neighborhoods and urban environments.
